Research Universities
Michigan is home to eight research universities at which students may seek bachelor's, master's, and/or doctoral degrees.
Central Michigan University
Central Michigan University was founded in 1892 in Mount Pleasant. It offers nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate programs and is well-known for its online master of business administration (MBA) and online graduate cybersecurity certificate programs.
Eastern Michigan University
The engineering programs at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti are ranked among the 100 best in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report.
Michigan State University
Michigan State University in East Lansing was founded in 1855. While it's always been heavily associated with agriculture, today's MSU is very well-rounded, offering hundreds of different degrees.
Michigan Technological University
Michigan Technological University was originally founded as Michigan Mining School in Houghton in 1885.
Oakland University
Oakland University in Auburn Hills and Rochester was originally a satellite campus of Michigan State.
University of Michigan

Andrews University is a private Seventh-Day Adventist university in Berrien Springs. It's named for John Nevins Andrews, the first missionary sent overseas by the faith.
Ferris State University

Wayne County Community College District is headquartered in Detroit, with a total of six campuses: Eastern, Downtown, Downriver, Northwest, Western, and University Square.
West Shore Community College
West Shore Community College is located in Scottville, not far from Manistee and Ludington. According to its website,
the college offers Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences Degrees, one- and two-year certificates, and many custom-designed Associate of Arts and Associate of Sciences degree programs to meet transfer students’ needs.
