Michigan Restaurant Closes Flagship Location – Are More Locations To Follow?
A Detroit restaurant is closed effective immediately.
This is not the first Michigan location to close doors, but will it be the last?
Bobcat Bonnie's in Corktown is one of many Michigan restaurants to close recently. However, Bobcat Bonnie's locations in Lansing and Ferndale are still operating.
The closure was announced yesterday on Bobcat Bonnie's Facebook page.
Owner Matt Buskard opened the Corktown location in 2015, and according to the Detroit Free Press, had this to say about its closing,
It breaks my heart to confirm that my flagship restaurant, Bobcat Bonnie’s Corktown, will be closing immediately after a decade on Michigan Avenue.
Bobcat Bonnie's locations in Wyandotte and Clinton Township closed before the Detroit location on Michigan Avenue. Last year, MLive reported that plans for a Bobcat Bonnie's in Kalamazoo were in the works. However, I cannot confirm if those plans are still progressing at this time.
As for the Bobcat Bonnie's Detroit staff, most have relocated to the Ferndale location.
We certainly wish Matt Buskard and his team the best. According to Buskard, this is the goal for the future,
Our goal in the next few months is to re-create what was great about Bobcat Bonnie’s. By really focusing on the service, quality, and pricing we are going to usher in a new season of Bobcat, and slowly remind folks why they loved us.
We certainly wish Matt and his team the very best.
