Brilliant! British Style Pub Opening In Detroit
Gather round, geezers - Detroit is getting its very own proper British pub.
The former Lost River Tiki Bar will soon become Cannons, an 1812-era themed drinking den located at 15241 Mack Avenue in Detroit.
The main floor of Cannons will feature a British-style pub, while the upper level will host music, DJs, and more. There is even talk of possible comedy shows and burlesque performances upstairs as well.
The pub will offer British beer, wine, barrel-aged cocktails, and a shot and beer special. Flights will also be available. As for food, it will be kept simple and on brand,
- Oysters
- Cheese Boards
- Welsh Rarebit (savory cheese sauce served over toasted bread)
- Pickled Eggs
- Cockles (clams)
According to The Detroit News, the food will be sourced locally; however, the oysters are coming from Massachusetts. On the weekends, guests can enjoy select brunch options.
When is Cannons in Detroit opening?
An exact opening date has not been announced yet. However, DJs are scheduled to perform at Cannon starting Saturday, November 8th, 2025.
You can follow Cannons on Instagram for additional updates.
Are there any other British and or English-style pubs in Michigan?
Yes, I was able to find a few in the Great Lakes State,
- Redcoat Tavern in Royal Oak
- The Loan Goat in Detroit
- The Black Sheep in Alpena
- Breccon Grille & Pub in Saline
- The English Inn Restaurant & Pub in Lansing
Feel free to pass along any others you might know of.
I look forward to enjoying a pint and a cheese tray at Cannons in the very near future.
