Man Wrestles Gun From Burton Officer During Shocking Home Break-In
A Burton police officer is lucky to be alive after what must have been a terrifying incident this week on Munson Road near Lapeer Road.
According to ABC 12, the officer responded to a home invasion call when he spotted a man near the entrance to Kelly Lake Park at the end of Munson Road. That’s when things got seriously intense.
The suspect suddenly attacked the officer, wrestling the officer’s gun away during the struggle. Things could have gotten way worse, but thankfully, backup officers rushed to the scene and tried to subdue the man with a taser, but it had no effect.

After a tense standoff, police were finally able to take the man into custody. The officer suffered a cut on his forehead but is expected to be okay.
What really caught my eye about this story were all the comments on Facebook after ABC 12 shared it. Tons of people were blaming the officer and calling out the department for what they saw as a serious lack of training.

But all we know about the story is exactly what I just shared with you. No one really knows what actually happened. So to just sit there and point fingers and speculate is not only unfair, it’s pointless.
I can’t imagine sitting on a public social media page and being so disrespectful to an officer who’s literally putting his life on the line. It’s gross, and we need to do better.
