Lucky’s Steakhouse in Davison Reopens After Health Department Closure

If you were wondering what was going on with Lucky's Steakhouse in Davison, there’s finally an update. The restaurant is officially back open after being temporarily shut down by the Genesee County Health Department last month.

Lucky’s announced over the weekend on Facebook that it had reopened following a couple of weeks of cleaning, changes, and much-needed inspections.

Why Was Lucky’s Steakhouse in Davison Closed?

As you might remember, Lucky's was forced to close on February 18 after a health inspection found six violations. Most of the issues had to do with food temperatures, cleaning procedures, and keeping proper logs on things like refrigeration and hot food holding.

What Changes Were Required Before Lucky’s Could Reopen?

According to ABC 12, Lucky's has gone through a deep cleaning and worked with the health department on a new food safety control plan. Inspectors returned earlier this month and approved the restaurant to begin ordering food again before giving it the final green light to reopen.

There are also some new conditions in place moving forward. A certified food manager has to be on every shift, food temperatures now have to be checked and logged every four hours, and staff are required to stay on top of things like handwashing and cleaning food prep surfaces.

The health department also plans to keep a closer eye on the restaurant for a while, and rightfully so. Lucky’s will now be on a stricter inspection schedule with unannounced visits every month for at least the next year.

Those inspections will definitely keep the restaurant on its toes, which should give customers a little peace of mind. Now it’s really about earning that trust back and getting people comfortable walking through those doors again.
