How Warm Will It Be on Christmas Day This Year?

We're not going to be breaking any Christmas Day heat records this year, but we'll come close.

As of writing this article, The Weather Channel predicts temperatures could rise to 55 degrees. It's not beach weather, but it sure is warmer than normal. Keep in mind, the further north you go, the colder it's going to get.

If you live in Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula, you're going to experience temps in the 40s with rain on Christmas Day. That is something you don't see very often.

From lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula, temps will be well above average for Christmas Day

When Was Michigan's Warmest Christmas on Record?

Michigan's warmest Christmas on record occurred in 1982. According to the National Weather Service, Detroit saw an official record high of 64 degrees, while in Flint, temperatures reached an even warmer 65 degrees.

The holiday came complete with showers and thunderstorms.

The Following Year Was a Different Story Altogether

Christmas of 1983 came with bitter cold temps. On Christmas Eve, Detroit hit a record low of -9 degrees. We had brutal winds averaging 25 to 30 mph. This put the wind chill at times nearly 40 below zero.
