Ew, Michigan Winters: 8 Gross Body Changes Nobody Talks About
Winter in Michigan is no joke. Sure, the snow-covered landscapes are beautiful to look at, but the cold, dry air can wreak havoc on your body in ways you’d probably rather not talk or even think about.
As soon as the temperature drops in Michigan, many of us start dealing with issues that are gross and, in some cases, a bit painful.
Most of the issues that our bodies endure during the winter months are just things that longtime residents have learned to live with over the years.
For example, every year, as soon as the temperature starts to drop, my hands begin to crack and bleed. It doesn't matter how much lotion I use—my fingertips will still crack, which, as many Michiganders know, can be a painful experience. It's really more annoying than anything as I'm constantly using liquid bandage to fill the cracks. It works like a charm but stings like crazy when I first apply it. Still, it's worth it to keep the pain at bay and prevent the cracks from getting worse.
If you have little kids, you know you're spending the winter months drying their gross winter noses. If you're not drying those snot bubbles, you're chipping away at those dried-up, crusted, disgusting boogers.
These are just a couple of examples of what Michigan residents have to deal with daily as the cold sets in. From cracked hands to snot-filled noses, it's just part of life here in the winter months. But hey, we tough it out—because that's what we do.
Now, let's take a look at some other non-glamorous changes that come with the season.
