We asked a simple question on Facebook. If you could bring back ONE restaurant in Genesee County, what would it be?

We honestly didn’t expect what happened next. The comments poured in fast, and before we knew it, there were more than 900 responses. It turned into a full-blown nostalgia trip.

Some restaurant names popped up again and again, while others reminded people of places they hadn’t thought about in years. I’ll be honest, there are a few on this list I hadn’t thought about in years, either, and a couple I’d never even heard of.

After going through the responses, one thing became very clear. Genesee County does not forget its favorite food spots. Whether it was a small neighborhood place, a special occasion restaurant, or somewhere you always hit after a long night, these places clearly left a mark.

Spoiler alert, I’m still a little shocked by how much love people had for Ponderosa. That one clearly struck a nerve and brought back a lot of memories for a lot of people.

Based on how often they were mentioned and the passion behind the comments, we narrowed it down to the 20 restaurants Genesee County misses the most. Some of these closures still sting, and judging by the responses, plenty of you would bring them back in a heartbeat.
