Peanut Butter Recall Hits Michigan After Plastic Found
As often as I eat peanut butter, when I see there’s a recall, I pay attention. And yeah, this one is worth taking a look at.
Why Is Peanut Butter Being Recalled?
There’s a recall out on single-serve peanut butter products after pieces of blue plastic were found during production. Not residue. Not dust. Actual plastic.

Should You Be Worried About This Peanut Butter Recall?
The FDA says the risk is low, but it’s not zero. This recall falls into the category of “don’t freak out, but don’t ignore it either.”
If you’ve got these single-serve packets and aren’t sure where they came from, it’s probably not worth the gamble.
What Peanut Butter Products Are Affected?
This recall is mostly about small, single-serve peanut butter packets, including some PB and J combo packs. Not the big jars from the grocery store, which should ease your mind a little.
Several peanut butter products from brands including Flavor Fresh, House Recipe, Katy's Kitchen, and Sysco are being recalled.
These are the kinds of packets you’ll see in restaurants, schools, hotels, take-home meals, cafeterias, and food service settings.
Were These Products Sold in Michigan?
Yes. The FDA says the recalled peanut butter products were distributed to 40 states, including Michigan.

What Should You Do If You Have These Peanut Butter Packets?
If you’ve got single-serve peanut butter packets at home and you’re not totally sure where they came from, it’s smart to stop and check before eating them.
