If you’ve been wondering what happened to longtime Fox 2 Detroit anchor Taryn Asher…you're not alone. Well, we finally have an answer.

And yeah, it’s a messy one.

Why Was Taryn Asher Fired From Fox 2 Detroit?

According to the Detroit Free Press, Asher was officially let go back in November 2025.

She had been off the air for months, and people definitely noticed. Now we know she was fired (according to her attorney), and her legal team says it’s tied to alleged gender discrimination.

Her attorney says things changed after new management came in. He claims she was treated differently from male coworkers when it came to assignments, scheduling, and even who got booked on the show.

He also says she brought those concerns up internally and believes that’s what led to her being let go.

What Taryn Asher Said About Her Absence From Fox 2 Detroit

Back in February, Asher finally broke her silence on Instagram, calling it an “unexpected work-related matter.”

She didn’t go into much detail, but did thank people for sticking by her while she dealt with everything.

Now we know there was a lot more going on behind the scenes.

What Happens Next in the Taryn Asher Case

Her legal team has already filed with the EEOC, which is usually the first step before things turn into a full-blown lawsuit.

So yeah…this probably isn’t getting wrapped up anytime soon.

Taryn Asher Has Been a Familiar Face in Michigan

If you’ve lived in Michigan for a while, you’ve probably seen her on TV. She’s from Fenton, went to Michigan State, and had been at Fox 2 since 2007 after stops in Flint and Lansing. She’s also picked up 10 Emmy Awards over the years.
