Pita Way owner Raad Kashat posted a picture of himself with White Boy Rick on social media this afternoon. Richard Wershe Jr.'s life story was the inspiration for the hugely successful movie, White Boy Rick. The premise of the movie is as follows,

Set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and the War on Drugs, 'White Boy Rick' is based on the moving story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison.

According to Slash Film, once his services were no longer needed by the FBI, White Boy Rick was arrested for cocaine possession and became the longest-serving non-violent juvenile offender in Michigan history after doing 32 years in prison, 27 of those years related to his drug arrest at 17-years-old. Wershe Jr. was released in July 2020.

You can see the movie trailer for White Boy Rick below.

The new Pita Way in Lapeer is on Summit Street. This highly anticipated spot is not only delicious but healthy too. You can find out more about Pita Way in Lapeer here. Congrats to Raad Kashat and his team on the new location.
