8 Better Spots in Burton and Genesee County, MI for a Full Service Truck Stop
We first reported the city of Burton, MI in Genesee County will be home to a new "truck stop" that's "coming soon" just a few days ago.
But we're curious how a full-service truck stop will fit on that relatively narrow/small property just off I-69?

Clearly, the owners of the new business have a plan that will fit, or they wouldn't be embarking on the development.
Eight (8) locations better suited for a full-service truck stop in, and around, Burton.
Let's preface this by saying a couple things:
- We're thrilled for new developments in the area.
- The properties/areas we're suggesting are just that, suggestions. We realize people may own them and have no desire to sell.
So many underutilized and seemingly abandoned properties have so much potential.
The old K-Mart & Kessel Plaza and Miracle Twin Drive-In locations have a lot of potential.
Plus, KFC, McDonald's, Taco Bell and Wendy's are all food options in addition to a truck-stop's offerings.
Center Road at I-69 is a dividing line for the City of Flint and Burton. The old Wally's location is large enough if the motel were to go away.
Across the street from the current, new location is the former Farmer Jack, Target Plaza. Most of the south side of the plaza is vacant meaning a lot of space for redevelopment.
Courtland Center's parking lot is mostly unused in the back. Plus, the old Lowe's location is vacant adding an awful lot of property for opportunity.
Across the street is Applebee's, Starlite and Home Depot. The back portion of the plaza where VG's used to be located offers a lot of developement space.
The last, and seemingly best option for a giant, full-service truck stop with showers, food, overnight parking bays and more would be the old Showcase Cinemas East property.
It's perfectly situated on Court Street running parallel to I-69... an easy on/off ramp could be added just after Belsay Road for truck traffic, too.

These are just ideas, obviously. We're happy to see new businesses sprout around Genesee County, always.
