The skies over Flint will once again come alive with excitement in the form of aviation. After a 30-year absence, Flint's Bishop International Airport will once again be the sight of an air show.

Bishop Airport officials announced the Wings Over Flint Air Show during a news conference in October and the hype has been building ever since. Then, Bishop's Chief Executive Officer Nino Sapone shared the big news saying The Wings Over Flint airshow will return to the Bishop airport grounds for summer 2023.

The two-day show will be held June 24-25 and will include the Army Golden Knights, military aircraft, and high-speed jets The airshow will also feature children's activities, along with efforts to spotlight active members of the U.S. armed forces, veterans, and first responders.

“Today is really exciting for me ... We’re going to bring back a Flint air show for the airport. It’s been over 30 years,” Sapone told Mlive. “We have some good acts, nationally recognized acts, a lot of kids programs, and static displays. It’s going to be a big event.”

Flint held air shows at the airport annually from 1974 until 1990 according to Mlive. The only year the show was dormant was 1983. Since then the skies have been quiet above Flint when it comes to summer entertainment.  In 2023 they'll come alive once again for a whole new generation.

“This is going to be epic. We are so excited to bring an air show back to the Flint community,” Sapone said. “This type of event has been missing from the region for three decades and it’s time to celebrate aviation again.”
