Tigers Fan Furious After Being Gouged For Opening Day Parking
I recently paid $44 for overnight parking in Washington DC, but that is nothing compared to the beating this Tigers fan took at a parking garage in Detroit.
(And yes, I WAS outraged by that seemingly exorbitant parking fee.)
Gouged for Parking on Opening Day
Steven Livings spent a memorable day at Comerica Park on April 4, witnessing the Detroit Tigers' thrilling victory over the Chicago White Sox in the home opener.

But the mood turned sour as Livings left the nearby parking garage and was charged nine times what he had expected to pay. He tells Detroit's WJBK-TV that the fee to leave the structure was $472.50.
"I was pretty distraught about it because you weren’t thinking you were gonna spending $50 an hour - when it was $50 for the event," he said.

A Fox 2 reporter contacted Metropolis, the company that owns the structure. She was told that the normal parking fee is $50 per day, but that rate is 'subject to change.'
Does this give the company carte blanche to charge $50 per hour instead of $50 per day?
Livings tells the TV station he contacted the company and is attempting to dispute the charge. He's sharing his story, hoping to help others avoid being ripped off like he was.
He notes that he's not the only one furious over the outrageous opening day charge.
"Their call center said they had a few people call stating that they also had the same issue."
