Michigan Family Says Detroit Cemetery Lost Man’s Body
Nearly a year after Patrick Sullivan died, his loved ones are not able to properly pay their respects because the Detroit cemetery where he's buried has misplaced his body.
Where is Patrick Sullivan Buried?
Chanell Calloway tells WXYZ-TV that her family bought a plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Detroit's east side for her uncle, before he passed away from cancer in October of 2023.
The family had a headstone made to memorialize Sullivan, but when the tombstone company came to deliver it, Sacred Heart's manager instructed them to "leave it outside the gate" because he would place it himself.
The manager admitted to the tombstone company that he wasn't sure where the man's body was buried, and the tombstone company informed the family.
"My uncle is not resting and it's not right, Calloway tells the TV station in the video below. "So as far as now going forward, something has to be done about this situation."
Cemetery Manager to be Replaced
The Parish manager for the Diocese of Detroit reached out to the TV station, saying she had no idea that the man's body had been misplaced. The Archdiocese of Detroit issued a statement (which you can read here) saying they are fully committed to resolving the matter. They also say they are in the process of replacing the cemetery manager.
