Major Auto Repair Chain Closing 145 Locations – Is Michigan on the List?
A major auto repair chain is making big cuts, announcing the closure of 145 locations nationwide. With more than 30 shops across Michigan, drivers are left wondering whether their local service center could be on the chopping block.
Monro Inc. is one of America's largest automotive service companies, operating more than 1,300 locations across the United States. The company announced it will be closing stores after reporting a 4.9% sales decline during the fourth quarter of its latest fiscal year, which ended in March.

Peter Fitzsimmons, president and CEO of Monro Inc., says the decision to shutter 145 stores is part of a broader strategy to return the company to profitability and increase total shareholder returns in the next fiscal year.
"We have identified four key areas of focus as opportunities for improvement. These include closing 145 underperforming stores, improving our customer experience and selling effectiveness, driving profitable customer acquisition and activation, and increasing merchandising productivity, including mitigating tariff risk," Fitzsimmons said.
Where Are the Closures Happening?
Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers currently operate 31 locations across 23 Michigan cities, including Flint, Saginaw, Fenton, Grand Rapids, Davison, and several Metro Detroit areas.

While the report confirms that 145 "underperforming stores" will be shuttered, it does not specify which locations will close or whether any of Michigan's 31 stores are at risk.
Another struggling service and repair chain, Advance Auto Parts, announced plans to close 700 stores late last year.
