Something New Coming to the Old John’s Property in Goodrich, Michigan?
Growing up in Genesee County around Goodrich, Davison and Grand Blanc probably meant your family stopped at John's Steakhouse & Pizzeria a time or ten.
For a few years now, John's has been closed. Its fans hoping it would one day return.
John's Steakhouse & Pizzeria in Goodrich since 1955
Loved for their authentic recipes, including amazing breadsticks, John's served Goodrich for over 60 years.
During that time, many birthdays were celebrated, families gathered for their favorite dishes around the holidays and neighborly conversations filled the air.
The dining room was even clad with classic red & white checkered tablecloths.
A 2015 MLive story noted the restaurant was being turned over to an employee that worked there for 20, or so, years. The intent was, clearly, to keep going.
John's Steakhouse & Pizzeria didn't survive the pandemic.
Unfortunately, the restaurant closed.
Then, in 2021 construction began on the property at M-15 & Hegel.
That construction continued for quite some time.
The former, recognizable facade is all but gone today. Only the John's Steakhouse & Pizzeria sign remains near the road on M-15.

If you haven't watched the progress, it's impressive.
Fresh bricking around the building gives it a vintage modern look.
The windows have been replaced, too.
On a late fall afternoon, the sun shows off all of the work on the backside of the property.
This pic is from the Hegel side of the road.
What's next for the former John's Steakhouse & Pizzeria property?
While we don't know yet... the building looks ready for its next chapter.
It's listed for sale at $1.2 million.
Now seems like a great time to start something new with the recent closing of Cranberries Cafe.
We're hoping it's another spot serving up great food & memories.
