Lucky Michigan Man Who Always Buys Lottery Tickets at the Same Store Wins $2M
A Michigan man who says he consistently buys his lottery tickets at the same party store is celebrating a $2 million Powerball win.
Ralph Davis from Southfield matched all five white balls in the January 18 Powerball drawing to win $1 million. He selected the Power Play option which turned his $1 million prize into $2 million.
Southfield Man Always Buys Lottery Tickets at the Same Store
Davis tells the Michigan Lottery that he always buys his lottery tickets at Sage Beer and Wine on Greenfield Rd. in Royal Oak.
When Davis' wife checked the Powerball numbers the following day, he assumed they had just won a small prize.
"The day after the drawing, my wife sat down to check the tickets. When she said to me: ‘We won the Lottery!’ I was thinking we’d won $50 or something," he said. "That’s when she said, ‘No, it’s $1 million times two!’"
A Grand Plan to Share His Winnings
The 74-year-old says he was shocked by the win, doubting at first that he'd actually won such a huge jackpot. Davis tells the Lottery that he plans to share some of his winnings with family members and some of his favorite charities.
"I was floored and must have looked at the ticket 30 times to be sure we were seeing it correctly. Winning is such a blessing for my family," he said. "We can give more to charities and share this with the people who mean the most to us."
