A woman from Genesee County is happy she bought a second lottery ticket while shopping at VG's because it paid off with a huge win.

The lucky player won $500,000 playing the Lottery's Cash Flurries instant game She purchased her ticket at the VG's Quick Stop on Silver Parkway in Fenton.

Genesee County Woman Decided to Buy a Second Ticket

The player says she usually buys an instant ticket once a week but opted for a second scratch-off ticket this time.

"I usually just pick whatever ticket catches my eye," the Genesee County woman tells the Michigan Lottery. "I bought a Cash Flurries ticket and won $5, so I went back into the store and used my winnings to purchase another one."

The player, who has chosen to stay anonymous, went on to say that she realized the ticket was a big winner right away, but went back into the store to verify her win.

"I had the clerk scan it to be sure," she said. "When a message came back to file a claim, I knew I had really won!"

She'll Put the Money to Good Use

The 67-year-old player says she plans to use her winnings to invest, help her kids, pay off debt, and save for her retirement.

"I told my kids and my husband first, but no one believed me until I called the Lottery and they verified the prize. I feel very blessed to have won!" she tells the Michigan Lottery.
