Talk about emotional. Rocker John Mellencamp recently met with a surgeon that saved his life as an infant.

Mellencamp, who was born in 1951, was diagnosed with spinal bifada and wasn't even aware he had a life-saving operation until he was 9 or 10 years old. The surgeon responsible for the operation in which Mellencamp's neck was cut open, and all the nerves reattached to his spine, was Robert Heimburger. He charged Mellencamp's parents just $1 for the procedure since according to Mellencamp, he was basically a "guinea pig."
