A bill that seeks to formally define a hot dog is heading to the California Assembly Appropriations Committee. The hot dog definition is part of a larger bill that deals with a number of health care issues.  The California Retail Food and Safety Coalition had requested the update to the California code that already defines other food items such as cold water and an egg.  As for the definition of the hot dog, SB-946 would define it as a whole, cured, cooked sausage that is skinless or stuffed in a casing.  Sounds good.  Make mine with everything on it.
