Is there a safety issue with GM's recalled large SUVs?

If the daytime running lights remain on in conjunction with the nighttime headlights, the glare could cause glare for other drivers, reduce visibility, and increase the chance of an accident.

The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
