Michigan Lawmaker Wants to Repeal Ban on Dyed Easter Chicks, Ducklings & Rabbits
House Bill 4251 would repeal an ordinance making it unlawful to sell small animals that have been dyed. Matt Blakely from the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Affairs is against the repeal saying "This promotes impulse buying of chicks and ducklings for children,” chicks and ducklings carry bacteria that can sicken children and "The animal becomes a pet for a while and then is a care burden." Do you think it is a good idea to repeal this ban or do you think it’s best to leave well enough alone since the legislature approved the ordinance and the governor signed it into law?
