The National UFO Reporting Center says that UFO sightings have significantly increased since the pandemic started. According to their website, there have been 7,200 calls regarding UFOs.

Why have there been more UFO sightings?

Some might say it's because people have more time on their hands to actually call the sightings in. According to Now This, it could also be because of less light pollution, making the night sky more visible. Most sightings have been false alarms such as satellite planes, drones, bright planets or stars.

UFO sightings in Michigan

Michigan's state director of the Mutual UFO Network, Bill Konkolesky, told Fox 47 that they saw a significant increase in calls last year compared to previous years. They received around 233 calls in 2020 and were able to identify most of the sightings.

Even on a bad year we can identify about 85 percent of what comes into us, most years closer to 95 percent.

Konkolesky says that the increased interest in UFO sightings could be because of the Pentagon investigation last year. The Department of Defense commented declassified leaked videos taken by U.S. Navy pilots.

Have you ever seen something you thought was a UFO?

I'm going to be honest, I haven't. I have a pretty short attention span, so I'm one of those people that looks up at the sky and goes "Beautiful night, eh?" and forgets there's so much we have yet to discover.
