For the third year in a row, a Bob Ross-inspired race will return to Michigan.

I don't think that I have ever met anyone in my life that didn't appreciate the man, myth, and legend known as Bob Ross. We can all remember a time in life when we were fascinated to sit down and watch him create a masterpiece. Now you have a chance to honor him with a 5K race in Michigan.

When and what is the Bob Ross Run for the Trees/Happy Little (Virtual) 5K?

This race is being put on by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The Third Annual Bob Ross Run for the Trees/Happy Little (Virtual) 5K will take place starting Friday, April 22nd through Friday, April 29th, 2022.

This virtual 5K will allow runners, walkers, and hikers a chance to run their race anywhere they want to in the state during that week. So find your favorite trail and sign up now.

Is registration open? How much does the Bob Ross Run for the Trees cost?

Yes. Registration is now open for the Third Annual Bob Ross Run for the Trees/Happy Little (Virtual) 5K. The race costs $34 per person and only 18,500 entries are available. The proceeds will benefit the Michigan state park system and support tree planting and forest protection efforts.

Each participant will receive the following:

  • A keepsake Happy Little T-Shirt
  • A commemorative racing bib and number
  • A finisher medal

I can't wait for this one. My friends and I grew up on Bob Ross and being able to get together and crack 5K's worth of jokes is definitely worth the $34 entry fee.
