Each year, Michigan sets aside two weekends to make fishing in the mitten free for all and the first one is this month.

No need to worry about having a fishing license next weekend if you are heading out to your favorite spot. The first free fishing weekend of 2020 is coming up on February 15th and 16th. Save yourself a little bit of money and take the family fishing for free. On top of that, you will not need a "Recreation Passport" to visit state parks or boating access site that weekend. Michigan residents and visitors alike can fish both inland and Great Lakes' waters for all species of fish. Just keep in mind that all regulations for fishing still apply to what you catch.

The other free fishing weekend for 2020 is in June on the 13th and 14th. That weekend will allow for free fishing, free entrance to state parks, and it is also free ORV weekend.
