Traverse City native Joshua Davis owes a debt of gratitude to tweeting fans, who kept him alive on NBC's vocal competition show, 'The Voice'.

Finding himself in the bottom three on Tuesday night results show, Joshua gave an impassioned take on Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down", which was enough to stave off elimination.

Viewers from around the nation tweeted their support of the former member of the Mid-Michigan band Steppin' In It, giving him the "Instant Save", keeping in the mix for the title for at least one more week. Past winners on the singing reality show have benefited from the "Instant Save" feature.

Following last night's narrow save, Davis tweeted his joy, as well as soliciting ideas for wht song he should perform on next Monday's show.

Here's Joshua's emotional "save" performance from Tuesday night's show:

It’s going to be a homecoming on next week’s edition of “The Voice.” Carson Daly said that three of the four former judges – Gwen Stefani, Usher, and CeeLo Green – are returning as mentors. The only one who won’t be back is Shakira, who’s touring around the world.
And who will they be working with next week? Here’s the breakdown by team:

  • Team Adam: Joshua Davis – who was Insta-Saved by America.
  • Team Christina: India Carney and Kimberly Nichole
  • Team Pharrell: Koryn Hawthorne and Sawyer Fredericks
  • Team Blake: Corey Kent White, Meghan Linsey, and Hannah Kirby

That means that Deanna Johnson and Rob Taylor ended their journey last night. We’ll see how it all shakes out on next week’s edition of “The Voice.”

And if you missed it, here's the problematic song that sent Joshua to the bottom three from Monday's performance show:
