One day, he'll have a funny story to tell but for now, Michael D. Brock is still feeling the sting of being arrested for something he didn't do.

Brock, who has no criminal record or outstanding warrants, was at his eastside Indianapolis home with his three children when police officers swarmed his front and back doors.

Brock insisted that he had done nothing wrong, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

“They said they’re serving a warrant for breaking and entering and possession of methamphetamine,” said Brock. "'I don’t do anything like that,' he told the officers. 'You’ve got the wrong guy.’”

Police put the man in handcuffs and shackles and held him under arrest for 45 minutes. The Marion County Sheriff's Department had relied on a tip from someone who had contacted Crimestoppers and had tipped them off that Brock was inside his home.

Brock's wife was eventually able to convince officers to compare the suspect's date of birth and social security number to her husband's. When police realized they had the wrong man, they let him go.

However, the real suspect, Michael S. Brock, appears to share some physical resemblance to the innocent man.

It took reporter Russ McQuaid from Fox 59 in Indianapolis just a few minutes to track down the real criminal, Michael S. Brock. Take a look at his conversation with the suspect:

“Has the Marion County Sheriff ever come looking for you?” I asked.

“No,” said Michael S. Brock.

“How long have you been on the run from this probation violation?” I asked.

“February,” said Michael S. Brock.

“And in eight months, I’m the first guy who’s ever come looking for you?” I asked.

“Yes,” said Michael S. Brock.

As of this writing, police have not arrested Michael S. Brock.

“I’m real sorry that other guy got arrested on my case,” he told McQuaid. “Tell him I apologize.”
