According to a recent NY Times article, states that have medical marijuana laws have seen a decrease of deaths due to prescription drug overdose.

28 states that have legalized medical marijuana are seeing a big drop in deaths due to overdosing on prescription pills. The study found that on average the deaths have decreased by 25% after a state puts medical marijuana laws in place.

Obviously there have been many studies that find that marijuana is safer than prescription pill use, and furthermore the fact that there have been 0 cases of overdose due to marijuana (I mean seriously what is the worst thing that happens when you get high? Munchies?) is all good news for those that want to medicate by smoking or ingesting marijuana.
