Protesters Gather Again in Lansing to Protest Stay-Home Orders

Once again, protesters have gathered on the lawn of the state capitol building in Lansing to oppose Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Stay-Home-Stay-Safe Executive Order.

Do you think they're following social distancing guidelines while they're there protesting? In the video below, it certainly doesn't look like it. I find it ironic that some of these people may be perpetuating the spread of COVID-19 and potentially prolonging the very thing they're protesting.

Previous protests have caused concerns for the safety of state employees as some protesters have attended these rallies armed with guns.

During her appearance on ABC's 'The View,' Governor Whitmer said she is bothered by some of the intimidation tactics that have been used by protesters.

"Michigan's capitol is one of a few capitols in the country where people can come bearing arms and what we saw last week and what we anticipate seeing tomorrow is those arms being used to intimidate others to being brandished in a way that is to strike fear in others and that is not legal activity," Whitmer said.

Attorney General Dana Nessel tells WILX that she hopes protesters will keep their demonstrations peaceful.

"This is a very concerning situation and we don't want to see it escalate into violence," said Nessel. "If that requires additional police presence, then that's what we're going to do to make sure that everybody stays safe and secure."

A ruling on whether firearms should be allowed at the state capitol building has been delayed.
