On this day February 14, 2010, Doug Fieger the leader of The Knack, died at the age of 57. Doug was born and raised in Oak Park, Michigan. His older brother is attorney Geoffrey Fieger. Doug started his musical career rocking in the Motor City and would eventually move out to Los Angeles and archive success with The Knack.

"My Sharona" the band’s debut single released in 1979 from their album Get the Knack. The song made it to number one on the singles chart.

By the way, there really was a girl named Sharona. Sharona Alperin, who was Doug’s girlfriend and they would stay friends until the end.
