Richie Sambora to Serve as House Band for ‘The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson’
Fans of 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' will soon get a musical surprise when they tune in before falling asleep. TV Guide is reporting that, for the week of Dec. 3, Bon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora will serve as the house band for the popular CBS show.
Sambora's third solo effort, 'Aftermath of the Lowdown,' was released in September and the guitarist will be performing cuts from the album as well as some of his Bon Jovi classics.
The announcement will be made official on the show tonight (Nov. 16) in a pre-taped "cold open," which is the term given to a segment that appears before a show's opening credits. In the bit, Ferguson tells Sambora, "I thought it would be great if you could be the house band on the show, but not necessarily play the guitar. Just you, naked, playing a tiny little harp."
Perhaps not wanting to embarrass himself, Sambora has a different suggestion. "You know what? I really love you," he tells the Scottish host. "I really love your show and everything. I'm not gonna be naked playing a harp. But I tell you what, if you want me to be in the house band, as long as you let me play a couple of my songs, I'm gonna be good with that."
