Sammy Hagar, Geoff Tate + David Coverdale Among Honorees at Vegas Rocks Awards
Some of rock’s greats were on hand Sunday night (Aug. 26) in Las Vegas for the third annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards. Sammy Hagar, Geoff Tate, and David Coverdale of Whitesnake were among the top honorees taking home hardware for their efforts at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Hagar received the prestigious Voice of Rock honor as his Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony watched on. The trophy was the top honor of the night at the ceremony. In addition, Hagar took part in a musical tribute to his onetime bandmate, Ronnie Montrose, in one of the top performances of the evening.
Coverdale received the Lifetime Achievement in Rock ‘n’ Roll honor. Meanwhile, recently ousted Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate won the Voice in Progressive Heavy Metal award.
Other winners of note included Michael Schenker, who took home the Rock Guitar Legend honor, Hellyeah and Pantera‘s Vinnie Paul who won the Drum Legend Icon trophy, and Miss May I‘s Levi Benton as the Male Metal Star of Tomorrow.
