Sheldon Neeley is Flint's new Mayor after winning a very close election against Karen Weaver.

The results were reported late last night, and according to MLive, Neeley won by less than 300 votes. The close margin shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in Flint. The primary race was extremely close as well, and both candidates knew it would be close. Neeley told MLive his goal is to unify the city.

I’m looking forward to bringing the city back together. There was a lot of fracturing through this process but now we need to come together as a total united city

Anytime a race is close, there is the potential for a recount, and according to NBC25, Karen Weaver is not ruling out the possibility.

Neeley finished up four years in the Michigan House of Representatives and will now transition into being the mayor of Flint.

There were several other mayoral races in Genesee County yesterday, and you can see the results below.

  • Burton Mayor - Duane Haskins
