SNL Star Gets Michigan Care Package From Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong received a little taste of Michigan Saturday when she received a  “Michigan care package” from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

The care package had an assortment of beer, stickers along with other items from the Kalamazoo-native Bell’s Brewery.

Strong, who portrayed Gov. Whitmer in a SNL skit last weekend, took to Instagram to thank the governor for the care package. Strong wrote: "Got a giant and gorgeous Michigan care package sent to New York courtesy of that super cool woman from Michigan  ... Honestly, this blew me away!"

In the SNL spoof, Strong portrayed Whitmer doing a COVID-19 update and featured her drinking a beer and addressing good social distancing while protesting. Whitmer seemed to love the skit, but joked that SNL writers "got the beer wrong" referring to the LaBatts Blue that Strong was drinking.
