If you or someone you know is a smoker and trying to quit, the state is making quitting a bit easier.

In a press release from the Department of Health & Human Services, the Michigan Tobacco Quitline is offering free nicotine patches, lozenges, and gum through September 30th. This is a part of the CDC's campaign Tips From Former Smokers which highlights people dealing with the health-related effects of smoking, whether it be first or second-hand.

Smoking is still the number one cause of preventable death in the U.S. Per the release,

It kills about 480,000 Americans each year.

68% of people say they want to quit and more than 140K Michiganders have used the Quitline. You can utilize their services 24/7.

You can get up to eight weeks of free gums, patches or lozenges by calling the Michigan Tobacco Quitline at 800-QUIT-NOW (800.784.8669).
