Janis Joplin was born January 19,1943 in Port Arthur, Texas. She wasn’t accepted by the kids she grew up with in the oil refining town so she put her energy into music which would be her ticket out of Texas. Janis ended up in San Francisco just as the music scene was just starting to explode. She became a major talent that took the San Francisco sound to the world.
