Dates have been announced for Michigan's largest free festival - Lapeer Days in historic downtown Lapeer.

Flanagan's Pub is once again hosting a big-money karaoke contest. Lapeer's Karaoke Star Competition is your shot to showcase your talent and win $750 cold hard cash.

Yes, the show is free.

Two of our favorite annual events cancelled.

It was during Lapeer Days last year that the front man for the band The Calling, Alex Band, told police in Lapeer that he had been kidnapped and beaten. Last Friday the police arrested Christopher D. Gruno and arraigned him for armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of felony firearm.

It's not that you can't bring your dogs to 'Lapeer Days', a city ordinance allows it as long as the dogs are on a leash, but people are a little nervous around dogs these days after the recent fatal attack in our community. 'Lapeer Days' organizers would prefer that you didn't bring them downtown on such a busy day.

Have you ever wanted to sit in a dunk tank? Well now you can. Volunteer to be part of the “Support Our Troops” dunk tank for Operation Care Package and you will get a free Operation Care Package Michigan towel and your chance to sit in the tank. Not to mention the great cause you will be raising money for.
