It's time for Swing Out for Lapeer High School Class of 2016. The tradition gets underway this evening at 6 PM on Nepessing Street in downtown Lapeer. This event has been part of the graduation ritual in Lapeer for over 80 years. Make plans this Saturday night (2/21), to support a great music program for the youth in our neighborhood. The Young Musicians Community and the band 3rd Degree Burns will be presenting a night full of great classic rock & roll at Lapeer High School. Doors open at 6:30pm , the concert runs from 7 until 10pm. and admission is only $5.
The band Third Degree Burns, part of the Young Musician's Community is a program that gives high school and middle school students the opportunity to learn to play in a rock band. Gary Burns organized the program about 10 years ago to give kids the opportunity to experience and learn to play good, classic rock music as a band, without all the negative influences.
Put on your thinking caps and tune in tonight (10/08) at 7:30 PM on channel 28 to watch Lapeer High School and Bay City Central battle it out on CMU Public Television’s Quiz Central. Teams from area high schools compete for the chance to win bragging rights and scholarships to Central Michigan University.
The announcement has been made the votes counted and Lapeer High School has a new mascot. Say farewell to the Panthers and the Eagles. The two will be combining and be known as the Lapeer Lightning.
