Perseid meteor shower

If conditions are in your favor, you can see up to 200 meteors an hour.

Michigan residents can save the date to catch the year's most powerful meteor shower show that will soon illuminate the sky in the Great Lakes State.

Look up.The peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower is today (8/12) and tomorrow (8/13) with up to 200 meteors per hour. NASA will host a live broadcast of the Perseid meteor shower via Ustream beginning tonight (8/12) at 9 PM CDT. If skies are cloudy watch it here NASA MSFC

The Perseid meteor shower peaked this morning but you still have a chance to see it. A good number of meteors should be visible through August 24 although you’ll see fewer after the peak. With the New Moon tomorrow morning, you’ll have a near moonless night tonight without moonlight to interfere with your viewing. The best hours are 11 PM – 4:30 AM EST.

All goes well and Mother Nature cooperates with clear skies this weekend especially Sunday night we’ll get to view a super Perseid meteor shower. The yearly sky show will be at its peak on Sunday and Monday night.
