He points to differing viewpoints in how to promote the band as being at the base of their issues.

Many music fans were surprised last weekend when Stone Temple Pilots not only played a secret gig with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington as their new singer at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles, but also released a new song called 'Out of Time.' But perhaps no one was more surprised than original STP frontman Scott Weiland, who was apparently fired from the band earlier this year.

The news of Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington replacing Scott Weiland's spot in Stone Temple Pilots has been receiving a ton of buzz since it was revealed during a live performance on May 18. Although Scott Weiland isn't happy with the recent announcement that he was fired from Stone Temple Pilots, he hoping there will be a reconciliation in the future. In a new interview with the Youngstown News' Vindicator, Weiland says that he feels his ousting was a "reactionary" decision and doesn't feel the door has closed on his time with the band.

The Stone Temple Pilots have cancelled their current tour again.  This time lead singer has a legitimate “performance related” reason.  Reports say he is having “throat issues” and has been advised to shut it down.  Never saw this one coming...
