We're not going to guess what your favorite music says about you, because there are so many things to love about it. Here are some of our all-time favorite summer songs.

Hot Fun in the Summertime | Sly and the Family Stone

"Hi, hi, hi, hi there. Them summer days, those summer days." Sly and the Family Stone gave us two and a half minutes of sunshine in 1969 that is an eternal summer favorite.

Summer of '69 | Bryan Adams

Unless he was a prodigy, this song is not autobiographical as Bryan Adams was only 9 years old in the summer of 1969. Some say it has a naughty connotation.

In the Summertime | Mungo Jerry

Although this song went to #1 around the world in 1970, and sold 30 million copies, "Mungo-mainia" never materialized. This band is one of the biggest one hit wonders of all time.

Cruel Summer | Banarama

Despite its dark, sad subject, the bouncy music and vocals make this song about a romance that never was a great summer song. The girls had always wanted to go to New York City, so that's where they shot the video.

The Boys of Summer | Don Henley

Can you imagine Tom Petty singing this? Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell wrote the music as they were finishing up an album, but it wasn't the right fit. Don Henley loved it, wrote the lyrics and it became one of his signature songs.

These five songs are only the beginning of your summer playlist. What would you add?
