‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2’ Trailer: Relive the History of Katniss and Prim
As The Hunger Games saga reaches its ends, it’s looking back to its beginning.
The latest trailer for Mockingjay - Part 2 is titled “For Prim,” and it traces the history of heroic bow-slinger Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her sister Primrose (Willow Shields). Way back in the first movie, it was Prim who was actually selected to participate in the Hunger Games; her older sister Katniss volunteered to compete in her place. That decision wound up having huge consequences for the future world of Panem, where Katniss became a celebrity and then a hero and now a revolutionary, leading the forces of the people against evil President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
This fall’s Mockingjay - Part 2 wraps up the four-part saga; here’s the plot description:
With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
In addition to the new trailer, Lionsgate also unveiled a new poster for the film:
I don’t know what that tagline means. “A creature as unquenchable as the sun”? The sun is unquenchable? I didn’t even know the sun got thirsty. If that’s the case, shouldn’t it be called The Thirsty Games?
Regardless, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, directed by Francis Lawrence, opens in theaters on November 20.
