The Detroit Tigers are World Series bound for the second time in seven years by beating the New York Yankees 8-1 for a 4-game sweep of the AL championship series. Max Scherzer was smoking hot and the Tiger bats came through.

A four-run fourth inning with homeruns by Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta. Austin Jackson added a solo shot in the seventh and Peralta hit another homer in the eighth to make it 8-1.

Tigers DH Delmon Young wins ALCS MVP award

Detroit Tigers designated hitter Delmon Young has been selected MVP of the AL championship series.

Young batted .353 with two homers and six RBIs in a 4-game sweep of the New York Yankees, capping his big series Thursday with a run-scoring single in the first inning to send Detroit on its way to an 8-1 rout in Game 4.
