Triumph to Release CD and DVD of 2008 Reunion Concert
It couldn’t have been easy being Triumph. The virtuosic Canadian hard rock power trio spent their entire career in the shadow of virtuosic Canadian hard rock power trio Rush. They broke up in 1993, but reunited on June 7, 2008. That historic concert will be released as a CD / DVD set, called ‘Live at Sweden Rock Festival’ on Aug. 28.
The concert brought vocalist/guitarist Rik Emmett, bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine and drummer Gil Moore together again for the first time since Emmett left in 1988 for a solo career.
“It’s great to finally be able show the world Triumph’s reunion show at the Sweden Rock Festival,” said Levine. “It certainly is one of the most memorable performances of our entire career! And they said it would never happen…”
The CD and DVD feature the same 10 songs. However, the DVD has bonus features, such as the on-site press conference, a behind-the-scenes look at the festival and a photo gallery.
Triumph released 10 albums between 1976 and 1993. In the ’80s they were a steady presence on the charts, with five consecutive Top 40 albums, including three gold and one platinum (1981′s ‘Allied Forces’) in the United States. On four occasions they were nominated for Juno Awards – the Canadian Grammies – for Group of the Year.
