Thanks to Mookie Betts, we all get to steal a Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell on Wednesday October 28th.

This is the second time in three years that Betts has given us all free tacos by stealing a base in the World Series. Betts made the magic happen when he stole a base in the 5th inning, and helped the Dodgers pick up a win in game one. Now we all get TACOS!

Taco Bell wasted no time getting the word out about the free tacos.

This is one of my favorite promotions because it helps keep me interested in a World Series game that doesn't involve any of my favorite teams.

So I just went back and reread that sentence, and man that makes me sound fat! Obviously I'm watching because I'm a huge baseball fan, but the chance of getting a free taco always helps add to the excitement.

Taco Bell started this off as a way to promote the Doritos Locos Taco, but they've actually turned it into a stat resource. They even decided to give away free tacos in April for no reason because the pandemic shut down the promotion that should have been going on. On their site they give a few taco related base stealing facts. 75% of the taco heroes have been from the American League, and 100% of the taco heroes have stolen second base.

I don't think those stats have any practical use, but neither do half of the stats that you hear about during a World Series game.
