It's been a really long time since we've been able to grab a group of friends and head out to the bar for a few cocktails. Remember those days?

I don't go to the bar very often but now that we're not allowed to, I really freaking miss it. It's the old, I didn't want it until you told me I couldn't have it mentality.

So, How long will we have to wait before we're able to socialize in bars and restaurants? I have a feeling, it's going to be quite a while. At least that's the feeling I got after hearing what Dr. Joneigh Khaldun had to say about the topic during Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Wednesday briefing.

Khaldun said there’s data that links many COVID-19 outbreaks across the country to indoor bars and restaurants.

Bars, in particular, are associated with unique risk factors -- lots of people, tight spaces and alcohol, leading people to change their behaviors and increasing their risk of spread of COVID-19.

She also said there were several outbreaks at bars that affected hundreds of people. I think we're all aware of that because that was the reason Gov. Whitmer shut bars down in the first place.

So, again I ask the question...when will bars in Michigan reopen?

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun:

While we’re still trying to get a handle on this virus, it is still very appropriate for bars to remain closed.

Well, that sucks.
