The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced that work on I-69 in Genesee County will resume this week. The road work on I-69 between Dort Highway and Center Road is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

Work includes widening the bridges at Averill Avenue, Center Road and the CSX Railroad. Freeway lighting will also be replaced between I-475 and Center Road and modern traffic signals will be installed at the interchanges with M-54 and Center Road.

After spring weight restrictions are lifted, all I-69 traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes. During this traffic shift, several detours will be in effect. Work is expected to continue through November.

Last year, crews made pavement repairs between M-15 and Center Road, and constructed temporary crossovers and widened shoulders in preparation for this year's reconstruction.
