Justin Rose shot a final round 70 on Sunday to win the 2013 U.S. Open golf championship at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. and capture his first major title. Rose recorded a par on the 18th hole to wrap up the title on the challenging suburban Philadelphia course. Rose's tournament score of 281 was two strokes better than Phil Mickelson and Jason Day.

Mickelson led heading into Sunday's final round, but early trouble left him behind Rose. "Lefty" rallied with an eagle on his second shot on the par-4 10th hole, but he could not make up enough strokes to pass Rose.
