Alice Cooper is one of rock's most prolific artists, having issued 27 studio albums since debuting in the late '60s. Paranormal is the latest title to arrive from the shock rock legend and features a stunning swath of musical styles, ranging from riff-enthused tracks to quirky to mystic psychedelia, which brings us to the video for the tripped out "The Sound of A," which is exclusively premiering here at Loudwire.

The track closes out Alice's new album and was the first song written solely by the singer back in 1967, pre-dating the Alice Cooper group's debut album Pretties for You. The music had been forgotten in time until original bassist Dennis Dunaway brought it to Alice's attention, suggesting he include it on Paranormal.

The gentle acoustic strumming coupled with shimmering chimes and other atmosphere-padding noises like organ swells establish an unnerving vibe as the video plays out. Various characters don Alice's iconic eye makeup and black streaks spill from the corners of their lips, miming the words to "The Sound of A" while the Pink Floyd-esque moments unfold behind Alice's confidently calm vocal strides. Oddly enough, Pink Floyd had just released their first album the year this track was originally penned.

"The Sound of A" will be released as a single on Feb. 23 on CD and 10" white vinyl and will also include four previously unreleased live tracks which were culled from a May 6 performance in Columbus, Ohio.

Paranormal is out now and can be purchased at Amazon or digitally through iTunes. You'll be able to catch Alice and his electrifying backing band on the road in 2018 as the group kicks off their month-long "A Paranormal Evening With Alice Cooper" tour on March 1. Go here to see if the trek is stopping at a city near you.
